How much rain did we get last night?

Use the 24-hour total to check recent rain, including overnight rain. This is a rolling window tied to the radar report, not a separate midnight-to-morning measurement, so it may include rain from the previous daytime too.

How precise is a ZIP code rain total?

A ZIP code is represented by one coordinate. Recent rainfall uses the NOAA MRMS radar estimate for the roughly 1 km grid cell at that point; longer periods can also use station observations. This is not an average for the whole ZIP code or a measurement at your address. Local showers and radar limitations can make your rain gauge differ.

Does an unavailable total mean no rain fell?

No. Missing observations are shown as unavailable, rather than turned into zero. A report can also lag current weather; check its dates before comparing it with another location or a rain or snow gauge.
